Dissolve
I am trying to create a dissolving effect like you can see if you click the “left corner” play button located at the following site:

Took way too long for anything to happen. Stupid site. Hope the designer gets fired.
Got another example?did you mean the blobby thingies that march across the screen if you wait until the dumb thing loads? Transfer modes, a moving set of circles created using a newsprint style filter.

If the page loads there is a little play looking button in the bottom left that is titled “dissolve” when you roll over it. If you click on the the strip dissolves from right to left. It’s kind of a small version of the dissolve you described.
Would your recommendation work the same way?
