Displaying audio waveforms in viewer alongside composite video
I know you can switch the viewer from Composite Video to Audio Waveform – but is there any way to view both in the viewer at the same time, similar to how FCPX works? Seems silly but I can’t figure out how to do it- I’m sub-clipping interviews so working off waveforms is pretty crucial for me to do this quickly and accurately. Thanks!

An alternative method is to expand the audio track waveform in the timeline panel and select “Show Audio Time Units.” The layout will be less cramped with two displays.
Otherwise, you could use Adobe Audition if you don’t mind going back and forth between applications.

The whole idea is to use waveforms to help me quickly mark in/out points to drop clips into the timeline – so this needs to happen in the viewer, not in the timeline. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Use the razor tool to trim to the desired in and out points. If you don’t want to trim on the main timeline, create a temporary sequence to edit the clips before inserting into the main sequence.
