Displaying a composition on a surface on a 3D object?
Posted by Oskar Pyke on July 3, 2016 at 2:13 pmWhat’s the best way to display a composition on, say, an iPhone (3D object) screen while it’s in motion? How do you link a composition to a surface so that it persists even if the 3D surface moves?

July 3, 2016 at 4:42 pmThank you for the swift response.
Yes, watched a few screen-replacement tutorials – but it seems kind of counter-intuitive to rasterise my animation of iPhone 3D .obj file and then use the screen-replacement approach described in the video. What I mean is – how do I attach a composition to a 3D surface from a Cinema 4D object?

July 3, 2016 at 7:01 pmFor Element 3D, prepare the model such that you can simply assign a texture to the screen:
https://www.videocopilot.net/docs/element/importing_3d_objects_into_element_3d/exporting_3d_objects_for_element_3d/For C4D to Ae, use the external compositing tag to create a solid that matches the screen, plus an object buffer for the screen to handle occlusion.
