  • Display tag not affecting X-particles

I have display tags on multiple x-particle objects that are not affecting the visibility one bit at render until I set to absolute 0. At 1 percent, everything is on 100 percent when I render. What am I doing wrong?

Correction, it still renders at 100 percent at 0 but disappears at 0, pre-render.

    Hi Joe,

I don’t know which objects you are using, but with a simple Emitter and xpGenerator setup the Display Tag works fine for me. Could you post your project file, or at least a simplified version which shows the issue?

Here is where I am. The center rays are supposed to fade so we can focus on the outer rays at this spot but the display tag is not affecting the opacity.

When using an X-Particles material its opacity is controlled through its “Transparency” setting. Since X-Particles materials allow shading of the particles without any geometry the display tag is not effective. However, if you were to use an xpGenerator to create geometry then the display tag would work.
