I’ve noticed that Mobile Media (cell phones/tablets) display specs are different from what file resolutions they actually play.

For instance the iPad’s display specs are 1024×768. But it only plays video up to 720p.

I’m a filmmaker and I’m outputting Mpeg4 and H.264 files of my short film for several different mobile media devices.

I know the iPhone 4 and iPad supports video up to 720. And their websites are very helpful with info.

But other devices websites aren’t so helpful.

Is there a rule of thumb for determining what file resolution will work on a device?

Is there a website that helps with these matters?

    Thanks

    Thanks,

    Sky
