    Hey guys,

Going to try and explain this in best way possible…

I need to have a shadow crawl down a face of an image of a 3D model. I have the z depth pass and was able to use it in Ps to create a styleframe by using the displacement map effect. It took a dark 50% solid and contoured it to the image and the intricate details of the model using the z depth pass. But now I need to make it move…

Going into Ae, when I tried to apply the same technique that I did in PS, it just doesn’t work the same way. Any advice on what might work?

If you have a depth map you can use it to displace in 3d a gray layer using FreeForm Pro (or Free Form V2) and then use AE lights to create and animate the shadow. After this is just a matter of finding the right transfer mode to comp it on top.
