    Hi..

I saw a couple of tutorials on how to create ripples on a surface just like when rain drops hit the water.

The turorials I saw, was one with a displacement channel and another with a bump channel. What they have both of them, is that they want you to insert a emitter or a particle? I have set the my floor plane in at the object area and in the particles I have isues.

I have created a text object. The text is above my floor plane, and my animation is that, my text submerges down under the plane, when it does that I want the ripples to take effect, but the “particles” tab wont accept my text, how can I make the ripples with my text going under the plane??

    Regards H

The ripple shader can only create round ripples based upon particle postion — not particle geometry. You would need a full-on liquid simulator like RealFlow for this.

    Hi Adam.

    Thanks for your reply.

How do I get this full-on liquid simulator like RealFlow? Is it a third party plugin?

RealFlow is a separate application from NextLimit that has plugins for Cinema and other 3D packages. Unfortunately it costs thousands of dollars and takes quite some time to master. Blender is a free 3D application that has a liquid simulator available. I think there’s some way to get the output into Cinema but I don’t know how it’s done.
