    Hello Creative Cow,

I purchased a SATAMAX 4×250 drive (uses 2 internal SATA cards) from ProMax about two years ago. It has served my company well on a few different projects and until now it was always reliable.

My problem is that I disconnected the SATAMAX and removed the cards from a G5, and upon reconnecting the SATAMAX to the same G5 two weeks later the RAID no longer mounts. The four drives were striped as RAID5 in Disk Utility. When OSX starts up, it now asks me if I want to initialize the four drives in the SATAMAX case.

Is my data lost? I have done the same thing in the past (once re-connecting the SATAMAX to a different G5 after sitting unused on a shelf for four months) and the RAID5 never disappeared. I have made sure that the correct cables are plugged into the correct cards (they are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 and I always have had 1,2 in one card and 3,4 in the other card).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Dual 2.0 G5
    2gigs of RAM
    OSX 10.4.3
