Has anyone else run into this error message: Using OS X 10.3.9

When I run the Disk Utility, I select my only HD & the hit the Repair Disk Permissions button,
it runs for about 15 seconds & stops & I get this message: Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool & cannot continue.
Please quit & relaunch Disk Utility. I have stopped & relaunched many times with the same error message.

    Any Clues?

    Thanks

    Hi
I saw a thread like this in Apple forums, was it you?
I was running 10.4.3 and prior to upgrade to 10.4.4 I thought to do a full permissions and disc check. Running the DU on the startup disc in verify only I got a whole bunch of errors, then when I started off the restore disc and used that DU everything got fixed nice and easy. Maybe try the restore disc DU.

    Steve,

In case you haven’t found out yet, there’s a huge conflict between using Disk Utility to repair permissions and iTunes 6.0.2. You need to trash iTunes and go back to version 6.0.1. I had the exact same thing happen to me with the same error message, and after doing some research I found out about the conflict. iTunes and Disk Utility – go figure.
