  disk space issues when exporting Quicktime movie

  Tried several times to export a 1 hour HD sequence to a standard definition setting Quicktime movie. Fails with the message “insufficient disk space.” My Mac HD has 66 GB available and my external has 97 GB available. Recently changed my scratch disk setting to the external drive and still FCP cannot export the sequence. What gives? Fast approaching a deadline. Tried to export this sequence so many times. Any advice?
