  • Disk space error when theres plenty of space

I’m using FCE HD 3.5.1. I’m capturing to a WD My Book external hard drive. After capturing about nine and a half minutes off a tape the system tells ne its stopped capture because of a lack of disk space. I start capturing another clip and it does the same thing. i have well over a half a terabyte available. Any ideas?

I’m guessing you’re external is formatted FAT32. That format is often on externals as it’s the only one that works with both Mac and Win. Problem is, maximum file size is 4gig. When your capture gets to that size, it stops and gives you that error.

Best thing to do, if you only plan on using on a Mac, is reformat the drive (it will erase everything currently on the drive) using Disk Utility. You can then capture unlimited and your issue will be gone!

    Hope that helps.
