Disk space and stitching clips
Hey Guys,
I run FCPX on a MacBook Pro with plenty of punch but only a small 250Gb hard drive. I know the ideal solution is to keep the files on a separate drive but I can’t afford a solid state hard drive and my current back up 1Tb drive slows everything down if I use it. So generally i work on one project at a time and try and keep file sizes small, even then the 250Gb fills up quickly.
One question.. when I import GoPro footage it is always split into 15min segments as that is how they record, once in FCPX i need to stitch those tougher .. does this now take up double room in the HD as the originals plus the stitched content figure? If so I guess my only option is to stitch the relevant bits, then export them, delete all the original files on ~FCPX and then reimport the stitched video?
If anyone here has a ‘cheap’ second hadn’t SSD they want to sell let me know.. I’m in the Uk.
