Disk Formatting MAC / PC
Posted by Tom Mooney on July 8, 2005 at 7:10 pmI need to format a Hard Disk so a client can read exported DV files on his PC. What are my options so that our MAC and his PC will mount the disk? Thanks in advance.

July 8, 2005 at 7:23 pmYou’ll need to format the drive as FAT32. This will allow both to read and write. PC won’t read Mac without special software, but it is available and pretty cheap. Interestingly, the Mac will format large drives as FAT32, while the Windows won’t format over 30gigs or so.
FAT32 won’t accept individual files larger than 2 gigs.
Mac will read a Windows NTFS drive, but won’t write to it. -

The best solution is to put one of the previously posted utilities–Macdrive is more or less an industry standard–on you PC with Windows.
