    Hi,

I’m designing patterns and abstract images to be printed on to garments.

The stylist for the company I work for wants me to create the next few prints in a similar style. The style is to create an image, and then cut it up into equal square and then rearrange them randomly so it kind of looks like one of those puzzle games for kids where you slide around squares of an image to create a picture.

So the first way I did it was to use guides to divide up the original image. Then I used the marquee tool to select a segment, which I then copy and pasted onto a new layer. Once all the segments were on separate layers I then rearranged them randomly.

My question is….is there a quicker way for me to break up the original image into the different sections? As the images are getting larger I’m having to create more and more separate segments which is taking quite a while!

    Any help is grately appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Martin.
