  Disappearing Work Area Bar

  I’m running Premier Pro CC2020 and I’ve lost the Work Area bar. It’s still checked in the hamburger menu at the top left of the Timeline panel and I know to use Ctrl [ to start it and Ctrl ] to end it. But every time I click Ctrl [ to start the area I get a sound that tries to tell me something is wrong the request can’t be completed, but I don’t see any clue about what is wrong. The Work Area bar has been working here for years and suddenly this! It’s like Adobe quietly downloaded a new version of the software with a different way of defining the Work Area.

  Does anyone know what might be going on?
