[chrispy] “Anyone had the experience of the mouse disappearing suddenly while working in FCP ?”

In our JungleLand suite, the mouse can get “lost” between the two monitors due to a difference in screen resolution. We have a 20″ and 23″ Cinema Display and if you move the mouse to the center bottom portion of the 23″ as you’re moving to the 20″ the mouse literally gets lost. This is a problem independent of FCP.

Unplug and replug in the mouse usually brings it back, though sometimes we’ll have to power down the machine.

    Hey Wally,

Well in my case both monitors are the same brand, size and resolution. So far this symptom has been reported to me on two different systems and am trying to figure out what might be triggering the problem.

    Chrispy,

Is your mouse by any chance plugged into the USB port on your keyboard or monitor? I had mine plugged into the extra ports on my keyboard and it became a game of cat and mouse with the mouse. It would especially like to disappear when the screensaver kicked in. After plugging ino the USB port on the CPU that bad mouse behavior went away.

    Hi David,

Yes most likely they are connected to the keyboard’s USB port. Well in their case the mouse just disappeared in the middle of working in FCP and not when the screensaver kicked in. Or perhaps the mouse could’ve wandered into one of the assigned corner of the screen which triggers the screensaver.

I’ll ask them to move the mouse to the CPU’s USB port and see if things improve.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
