  • Disappearing audio/waveforms (?) – Vegas Pro 13

    Hello!
    So for the past few months I’ve been having an extremely frustrating issue bothering me.
    The problem is basically disappearing audio, as weird as that sounds. Sometimes an audio clip will take sound from another clip, other times there’s no audio at all.

    I can visually see this, when I scroll to zoom in on my audio wave forms, like seen in these gifs:

    https://i.gyazo.com/199b0ee3ce4ec577338b14e52a73185c.mp4
    (Zoomed out you see the original waveforms, but zoomed in it takes audio from another track and plays this in its place.)

    https://i.gyazo.com/b929c5464d52ae3cc89615400149f9d2.mp4
    (Here the audio compeltely shifts and repositions itself)

    During playback, the audio does not play what its originally intended to, and the only real fix I’ve found is just restarting Vegas until I somehow can work in peace for 5 minutes before the same begins again.

    These are completely normal .mp3 and .wav files that I work with.

    Here are my PC specs, should it carry any significance;

    Windows 10 Pro
    Intel i7 4770k 3.5GHz
    16GB ram
    GeForce GTX 970

    Any other relevant information I’d be glad to provide!

    I would love to know if anyone else has experienced something similar to this and if there’s any solution to this nightmare.

    Thank you.

    I haven’t added any video files yet, but this is what I currently have imported to my timeline;

    – a stereo .mp3 music track; 44,100Hz, 320Kbps
    – an stereo .wav commentary track; 44,100Hz, 16 bit
    – an ambient .wav track; 44,100Hz, 16 bit

    Can you import, to the timeline, one by one and play with out problems ?

    I tried making a new project file, then added the music (.mp3), which worked just fine by itself. Then I added the commentary track (.wav), seemed alright. Finally adding the ambient sound (also .wav) and playing them all together worked just fine the first time around.

    Merely seconds after playback this is what it looks like; https://i.gyazo.com/7b1c53dc890329e0e2a83c784afd154c.mp4

    Adding them one by one, seems to work for a limited time before they somehow “merge” (?) I’m honestly baffled and having a hard time explaining myself.

    The problem just appears out of nowhere it seems. Could it be that Vegas isn’t fond of working with both mp3 and wav formats at the same time?

    If you go to: Options – Preferences – Audio Device

    Is it set to: Windows Classic Wave Driver ?

    It’s set to ‘Microsoft Sound Mapper’.

    These are all my Audio Device settings; https://gyazo.com/dd6cc0f0d35d5aad459bc46715a31e1a

    Unfortunately it didn’t seem to change or fix anything..

    I would report this to Magix, I’m having a similar problem with a disappearing explorer window too. I’m on build 201 fyi, is that what you have?

    Will definitely try to make them aware of it! I’m currently on build 310. Apart from this issue I rarely encounter anything else.
