    Igor,
can’t you use composite output as a sync?
Or is there some converter box needed to convert composite to acceptable genlock signal?
It’s been too long time for me to remember…

PVW 1800 can’t use composite for genlock, also BVW series. UVW not shure.
SD Connect will do genlocking from component, and also old DPS PVR editing board, probably BMD DL Extreme. You can also find some old ForA component TBCs on Ebay for couple of $. And it is best if you also have some Black burst generator ( It’s a must with UVW, I have hear that some guys does this genlocking from composite on UVW, try to search other forums for that.) Sony Z1 downconvert from HD to SD on component out, but for HVX I am not shure, cannot find anything similar in their manual ( it does when you copy from P2 to DV )

Because I don’t own the BetaSP deck. I pay people to make my dubs to BetaSP. They have DVCAM decks also so presently I can take my master tape there and dub it off. With P2 I have to be able to off load my spot from FCP to the camera to take it to the dub house to make the BetaSP dubs.
OR buy an extra tape device or whatever which I don’t want to have to spend the money on to take over to the dub house. Also, they don’t have anything that reads freestanding P2 cards.
Mastering it back into the camera is the most efficient method and is basically what I do now with the DSR250 except I don’t have to take the camera in – I just take the DVCAM tape.
    Dig?

    >What sony hdv camera your friend has?
Or do they give analog component output only with hd?>

He has a Z1. If you read Igor’s Jan 7 response you will get the picture. I think he explains it real well.

Do they have computers with analog component output in the dub shop, so that you could just take an external hard disk to them?
