Sorry but I couldn’t find this during a search.

I have a client who has requested I outfit a studio for them with Mac gear.

No problem but I am unsure as to whether I can do direct captures (from camera to hard drive) with Final Cut Pro as I can with my PC software.

Any info would be much appreciated.

What “PC software” are you referring to so we can compare?

My apologies. I quite often record direct to hard drive using Adobe Premiere 1.5 in order to save myself digitizing time.

    Check this out: https://www.virtualvtr.com/pictureready/index.html

It’s called “Picture Ready” and it allow you to record a live feed, and begin editing even before it’s complete.

Or you can just make sure that your device control is set to UNCONTROLLED ADVICE and then hit CAPTURE NOW…if PictureReady is out of your budget.

    [Shane Ross] “UNCONTROLLED ADVICE”

Freudian typo? I get this from my father all the time!

UNCONTROLLED ADVICE … you should put it in your sig file Shane 🙂

    Thanks everyone.

I guess my only problem now is that when I talk to the client I’ll be afraid that I’m offering “Uncontrolled Advice”.

    Awesome

    ROTFLMAO!!

UNCONTROLLED ADVICE…I meant, of course, DEVICE. But yes, I think that has to go into my sig file.

I have experienced, and I know others have too, that files captured by QuickTime Player cannot be edited in FCP.
