Direct Capture to FCP
Posted by Dan Asselin on December 10, 2006 at 12:20 amSorry but I couldn’t find this during a search.
I have a client who has requested I outfit a studio for them with Mac gear.
No problem but I am unsure as to whether I can do direct captures (from camera to hard drive) with Final Cut Pro as I can with my PC software.
Any info would be much appreciated.

December 10, 2006 at 1:55 amMy apologies. I quite often record direct to hard drive using Adobe Premiere 1.5 in order to save myself digitizing time.

It’s called “Picture Ready” and it allow you to record a live feed, and begin editing even before it’s complete.

December 10, 2006 at 3:32 amThanks everyone.
I guess my only problem now is that when I talk to the client I’ll be afraid that I’m offering “Uncontrolled Advice”.
Awesome

UNCONTROLLED ADVICE…I meant, of course, DEVICE. But yes, I think that has to go into my sig file.

December 12, 2006 at 1:16 amI have experienced, and I know others have too, that files captured by QuickTime Player cannot be edited in FCP.
