I have a tower (2 x3GHz Quad Core) with Kona 3 Card running FCP 6.0.1 and am trying to output 4 channels of audio to a Sony DigiBeta via the SDI cable.

I only seem to get 2 channels of stereo.

I have changed the settings for the sequence to 4 channels — but the meters in FCP and on the deck only get 2 channels.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Did you change the overall sequence settings (application menu)…if so, that only changes it for any new sequences you create.

You need to change the audio prefs for the current sequence (sequence menu)

You set the outputs in your sequence? With your sequence selected hit apple-zero, then hit the Audio Outputs, change the OUtput drop down from 2 to 4. Then:

Open the audio mixer (option-6). Then click the down mix button which looks like two opposing speakers on the master output so it is not selected and you should get 4 channels.

Also, you then have to go into your FCP sequence and right click just beneath the little lock icon on the tracks and set the audio output for each track to either 1,2,3 or 4 if working with dual dual mono or 1&2, 3&4 if you are working in dual stereo.
