Finally, I’m getting with the 90s and going to be doing some DVD authoring, but it is mostly for personal and small business use. Budget is not allowing me to spring for the bells and whistles of DVD Studio Pro, so I’m just going to suffer through iDVD. Some of apple’s wording makes me think that a need a Superdrive to burn from iDVD, but I was hoping to just get an external DVD+R. Does anyone know from experience if this will work?

Also, any recommendations on external burners would be great. I’m looking to burn video footage, typically about 1.5 to 2 hours worth.

    Thanks!

You should be ok if you’re buying iLife or the iDVD standalone. I’d suggest anything Pioneer or Sony for the burner.
