I’m working in a 3:2 aspect ratio timeline with footage that is letterboxed. When I add a dip-to-color (i.e. white) dissolve between clips, the whole frame dissolves to white, including this letterboxed portion. How can I restrain the dissolve effect to occur only within the video portion of the frame (b/n the letterboxes)? When I bring the dissolve effect up in the viewer, it does not have the motion tab available where I could crop it, and I’m not able to apply the widescreen effect under “Effects/Matte/Widescreen.” There must be a way to make this work.
    Thanks, cg

Nest the clips, then letterbox the nest.
