I am having problems opening Avid XP Pro 5.7 (it just hangs and doesn’t open). I have downloaded v 5.7.2 and installed it. But I need to replace the DIO runtime programme. I can’t uninstall it using add/delete programmes in Control Panel and ccleaner won’t get rid of it either. All I get is “setup.exe has encountered a problem…”

I have dipped into the registry but I am not confident about deleting the right stuff.

Can anyone offer any more advice for getting rid of this thing short of a clean Windows install (which ain’t gonna happen)?

    Thanks guys (and ladies).

    Follow up on the above.

Did eventually delete the string in the Registry without destroying my laptop. Re-installed the DIO runtime and then uninstalled it the usual way.

In fact this didn’t solve my problems with starting the Avid programme. It turned out to be a RAM problem – I had doubled the amount on my system and for some reason Avid XP Pro doesn’t like this.

I have created another post to try and solve this problem so please use the link if you have a similar problem.
