Digitizing Someone
Posted by Ashley Heilig on November 3, 2012 at 4:56 pmHey,
I’m trying to learn how to I guess digitize someone. It’s been done in a lot of Black Eye Peas videos. I posted an example below. I can’t find any tutorials anywhere. Please help.

November 3, 2012 at 6:14 pmBy digitizing someone, in this video, do you mean the blue-looking versions of the singers? To me, this just looks like an effect applied to the video, possibly Red Giant Trapcode Form, using the video as a depth map.
To me, digiting means actually creating a 3D person, then applying texture maps of the singer to the face and body of the 3D model. There’s a way to do this using Daz Studio, which is free:

You do have to purchase a plugin which then lets you capture the face texture from a digital still:

It’s a third party plugin and is on sale right now for about 50 dollars.

Check out the Form Face [link] tutorial, which mimics the 3D pin effect from the Radiohead “House of Cards” video.
