  • Digitizing from a dvx-100A to FCP 5

I cannot get my digitization efforts to end on the out point. By that I mean, I set an in, then an out upon logging, then when the tape reaches the end point upon Batch Capture, the tape rolls on until the end, then reports an error, and all that time digitizing is wasted.

Any thoughts here, and why can’t FCP retain the digitized elements up until the error point, why does it just dissapear?

Try trashing the FCP pref. files. When I had the same problem you’ve described, trashing the preferences always fixed it for me.

It would be nice if FCP did leave what it already has captured (up to the error point) on the scratch disc, but I guess that’s not how the program operates. Perhaps it’s a built in safety feature to automatically delete a file that has possible corruption. Trouble is, there was no corruption until the end of the capture process when FCP screwed it up.
