February 15, 2007 at 1:48 pmTrying to dig beta sp footage thru a DV with the capture now control. I selected non controllable device and am passing the signal thru the dsr 40 to the mac via firewire. Signal isn’t getting thru. What am I missing. I would really like to have an AJA or something like that for this kind of stuff but our budgets aren’t replenshed until july. Any way around this? Thanks

February 15, 2007 at 1:58 pmDon’t have the DSR-40 here, but I’ll wager you need to find the setting or switch on the machine that sets the input to the analog inputs you’re connecting with.. i.e. S or component video…. Then it should pass on through. for a small amount of money, you could control the betacam machine via RS-422 (the DSR could use it too) take a look at a keyspan adapter (less than 100 bucks)… https://www.keyspan.com sells them. they work great… you want the one made specifically for RS-422. It’s a USB device.
