Digitizing 24p on Sony Z1U
I am trying to digitize footage that was given to me on my sony z1u and when i try to play the tape I keep on getting the message, “Change to Correct Tape Format”. I have tried all the possible variations that my camera allows and now am thinking that perhaps the tape was shot 24p. Is there any way i can digitize or even play this on my sony z1u (which does not shoot 24p)?

The camera cannot handle 24p on either record or playback.

You need to check the output settings on the Z1. It is capable of down-resing to SD (480i) so it might be shot in SD and possibly in anamorphic, which will look like HDV on your viewfinder. If it is indeed HDV on tape it will be HDV, 1080i, 29.97 from the camera. If the tape is something other than that, it may be able to playback in camera, but not out of the Firewire.
