  • Digitizing 24p footage from HVX

    Hi,

I just shot a project on an HVX in 24p, 480 interlaced, 4X3 letterboxed. I’m editing on FCP HD.

How should my capture and sequence settings be configured so it captures correctly?

    Thanks for your help.

If it is 24p it isn’t interlaced…. it is combined – there is a difference.

    So…

Just capture using a simple easy setup 29.97 DV/NTSC setting.

You’ll get 3 progressive and 2 combined frames every 5. That’s what 24p means. (kinda)

    Good luck,

Thanks for the info. So should I edit in a 23.98/24fps sequence, or just the regular 29.97?

    The regular 29.97.

If you want to go to 23.98 you should have shot in 24pA… however, you CAN use Cinema Tools to remove the 3.2 cadence and edit in 24fps.

Check the manual in CT for how.
