  • Digitize tool source is always composite when create new project?

Posted by Jason Brown on August 21, 2007 at 1:26 pm

    Hey Everyone,

I’m on a fairly old Media Composer v11.0

And I’m trying to figure out why when I create a new project…the source in the Digitize tool is always: Composite.

We digitize off of beta through the Component input, but there is a lower quality video source coming through the composite…so if you don’t remember to check, the video is lower quality than it could be.

I’m sure it’s something to do with Site Settings…but I can’t figure it out.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I’ve was having this same problem on our Xpress Meridien. I have my Digitize settings set to its own workspace, so I just opened the Digitize Workspace, set it to SDI (that’s what we capture with, instead of component), and resaved the workspace. Now it defaults to SDI instead of Composite.

If you use a Workspace or Toolset, start a new project, activate that Toolset/Workspace, change your digitize settings from Composite to Component, then resave the Workspace or Toolset. It should stick from there on.

    Michael.

    Hey Promoboy,

I tried the workspace idea…it didn’t work on our system (MedComp v11.0). Through some deeper research, I found a workaround…I’ll lay it out here for anyone who reads this in the future.

Open the settings tab in the project window, go down to the bottom for the setting: *Video input* double click, and you can change the input to composite/component/SDI/etc. Change to which setting you want, then go to Special -> Site Settings. With the Site Settings box open, drag the *Video Input* from the settings tab into the Site Settings box, this now changes the default for creating new projects as the video input being what you want it to be.

Hope that helps someone in the future!
