i have been working on a few jobs doing music videos, and comercials for a freelance production company, i am a computer animation student at Bournemouth university and got the job via some work i did on the internet.

The job is great for experience and contacts, i am in charge of backing up all footage making sure all the rushes are safe and byte checked. and sort of being a runner. its good because i am writing some software like shotput in my spare time pro.

although i have this job i feel like i need to know more, in the camera assistants hand book it is vague about a digital image technicians job. i want to find out more about the cameras and colour space and knowing about codecs, histograms blah blah blah. basically i wondered if anyone here could suggest things i need to learn and were i can learn them. i am confident with special effects supervising tasks but yeah i dont want to be asked a question and not know the answer.

    thanks for the help!
