ANd this dropout is visible AFTER you log and transfer, correct? Is it apparent in the original MXF file?

We way do you recommend looking at the MXF so far I have only tried FCP but I did try FCP on three different systems to make sure it wasn’t a version problem

Panasonic P2CMS is the way that is most free.

Thanks but the errors appear there as well. Any thoughts?

    [Matt Bishop] “Any thoughts?”

Yeah, the footage has been compromised.

My thought (and this was explained earlier in this thread) is that you are using the fw bus for both he PCD20 and the hard drive which is causing some sort of transfer error.

I would separate those busses on your MBP with an Express/34 card, or use USB on the PCD20. Also, you do have the PCD20 drivers installed, correct? Firmware up to date on the PCD20?

Hmm…not sure if I’m having the same issue, but I’m getting a strange 1 frame drop out. There are a few differences though. One, I’m not using the AJ-PCD20 at all. I’m transferring the cards one at a time through a laptop PCMCIA card slot. Thus far, it has occurred on multiple cameras, multiple cards, and multiple hard drives. We use P2Forge for our transferring. Our hard drives are simply connected through USB 2.0. We have two laptops that we use to transfer. I can’t prove this 100% yet, but I think only the one is having the issue. I also think the problem may not be occurring when using USB 3.0 (but I can’t confirm that either just yet). Anyway, this is a shot we were rolling on to get some audio (and before the white balance!)

Anyway, maybe this helps you guys out in your problem…and maybe hopefully can help me as well! Any suggestions, I’m all ears!

    Thanks,

    Shannon

Hi All, I’ve just read this thread for another issue but I can report that I have also experienced dropout when daisychaining the PCD20 through firewire 800. I now connect directly to my Mac.

I have another connected issue though, which is why I was looking at this thread in the first place. My PCD20 is approximately half as fast when transferring over FW800 as USB. Surely this is wrong? I just updated the Firmware and I have installed the latest drivers but it is still half the speed.

Any ideas? I’ll just use it on USB for now but it seems a pity to not use FW800 transfer speeds
