August 4, 2005 at 3:48 amso im reading and thinking these boys put alot of time into this new spec. I could save them all alot of time…
I say make the spec DVCPRO HD running through firewire a powerbook with a G-RAID… problem solved!! 🙂

And I’d say that having only 8bit color rendition is so 80s’ video tech.

August 4, 2005 at 3:14 pm[emery] “OMG its 176 pages long…. thats some spec!”
I think it’s very straight forward and simple spec.
And that’s why it could be easily adopted by industry.Eg. compare it to thousands of pages of DVB and MHP specs…

August 4, 2005 at 4:46 pmIt appears the spec uses JPEG 2000 as the compression algorithm. Am I correct?

August 4, 2005 at 6:27 pmYep, and the specs even tell how many wavelets you can use.
PQ should be quite awesome (=visually losless) when using the max bitrate which is 250Mbitps for picture with jpeg2000! -

August 5, 2005 at 3:54 pmThat’s extremely short for a technical specification. In fact its too short; there is a great deal yet to be finalised. Its nice to see that they haven’t compromised on picture quality however.

August 5, 2005 at 8:31 pmGuys I was joking about the DVCPRO HD thing and yes the pdf is pretty straight forward. However, they are not really defining any new technologies, just the implementation of existing ones. That said, I dont think its too long… again, I was joking. 🙂

August 8, 2005 at 4:01 pmSorry, Emery, for not getting the joke in the first place.
I think one of the great things about these specs (in addition to PQ) is that it is based on existing tech.
Will work right away and fewer problems…
Hope the future versions will be very specific about the details, so there will be minimum problems with compability.
