digital cinema desktop preview on the macbook pro
i’m having trouble using the digital cinema desktop preview feature on my macbook pro. i’ve connected a cinema display which i use for all my windows and i want my macbook to act as the preview screen. however, none of the settings work. could that be because the graphics card in my macbook pro is pcie and not agp? (actually meaning it’s not old enough to work…)

From the Manual:
“The Digital Cinema Desktop Preview feature allows you to preview your video using
any available computer display connected to an AGP graphics card. (Displays
connected to a PCI graphics card cannot be used by Digital Cinema Desktop.) If you
have two computer displays, one can be used to view the Final Cut Pro interface and
the Finder while the other can be used as a dedicated video monitor. For Final Cut Pro
PowerBook systems and other single display systems, you can switch between the user
interface and the Digital Cinema Desktop Preview display.”So apparently, you can’t do it the way you’d like… can keep the PB’s display the startup display and the CD could be the Digital Cinema display though.

unfortunately that doesn’t work either. the preview feature won’t even work when i use only the macbook without the cinema display.
has anyone tried the matrox mxo with the macbook pro? -
Funny you should ask about the MXO. They JUST started shipping pre release units to the reviewers, I’ll have one shortly to write about it for the COW mag, but can’t test it with a MBP… have PB though to try it with so will report back about it.
It’s a much better solution if it lives up to what it’s specs say… Would allow for SD, HD you-have-it monitoring… and it should make the Cinema Display sing the correct tune.
