Digital Betacam presets in FCP
Posted by Fafounet on September 24, 2005 at 6:57 pmHi everybody
What should be the presets in order to capture Digital Betacam Pal ?
Is it furnished with the capture card or is it standard ?
Can I handle Digi Beta and DVcam in the same project ?Thank you

Do you HAVE a capture card?
Without one, you can only capture DV video & audio via FireWire. -

When you get the device that can handle the uncompressed I/O, then you’ll be able to capture uncompressed 8bit or 10bit using a PAL preset.
Keep in mind you also need drives that are fast enough to handle uncompressed. Yes you can handle dual format in the same project, but you will need to render one of them in a timeline. FCP cannot handle dual formats in realtime. If you get the AJA Io, you can connect your DVCAM deck to it and capture your DVCAM footage at the same codec as your digibeta and then you can edit all of it in realtime.
