I hope someone can bring some light to my situation:

I’ve got material that is in sync when inspected frame by frame. Playback is however out of sync, maybe 5-6 frames.

I just got a Black Magic Intensity card, and are monitoring the video through HDMI. My active, digital speakers are connected to the standard optical output of the Mac Pro (Digital Out).

System Settings -> Playback Control is not helping. The offset set here does not affect the audio/video relationship.

If I choose to play my audio through the Intensity to the HDTV, it plays in sync. However, I would like to listen to the sound from better speakers.

This is not a crisis – there are several ways of getting around the problem. However, out of curiosity, I would like to know where to adjust audio offset.

Your speakers & your video monitor should always be connected to the same source. Consult your FCP manual & manual that came with your Intensity card to see how to best connect your speakers to the card.
