April 2, 2009 at 10:53 pmSorry, this problem has kind of been pushed aside, and I just remembered one more thing. I mentioned it in an above post.
It isn’t the record head because I can record fine if I’m playing from the FCP timeline, but not if I use “Edit to Tape”. This is why the problem must be in FCP.
Any other ideas?

April 20, 2009 at 4:43 pmHello.
I have the same problem with a totally different set-up (FCP 6 – AJA Kona 3 & Sony HDW-D1800).
When using the Edit to Tape option from FCP I am getting a Red Tape Condition Alarm but if I use the Print to Video option everything goes fine,
I’ll really appreciate if somebody can provide some guidance to solve this problem.
Thanks
Fernando

April 20, 2009 at 5:41 pmI still haven’t found a solution either. As I have stated, my problem is when I’m outputting to Digi-Beta via SDI. If I’m outputting to a DVCam deck via SDI, it’s fine. I guess the next step is for me to attempt to output to Digi-Beta via component.

September 3, 2010 at 10:21 amDid you ever find a solution or cause for this problem? Having a similar problem with edit to tape on an HDCAM-SR deck at the moment.
Thanks

September 3, 2010 at 2:39 pmI’m not exactly sure what the issue was Rupert. I’m not sure if it was software, maybe drivers specifically, but it’s “resolved itself”.

September 29, 2011 at 4:20 pmI had the same problem yesterday with my DVW-500 & kona lh-e
The problems you guys were having, were you doing an HD 24p downconvert to 480i? Thats the only time I’ve had this problem.
I didn’t solve it, but the workaround was to edit to tape, then edit to tape again, but insert edit only the audio through the analog inputs on the deck.

September 30, 2011 at 2:59 pmHi Chris. I can’t recall since it was 2 and a half years ago 🙂 That is very likely though.
Glad you found a fix.

September 30, 2011 at 3:33 pmHi Chris,
No, ours was just a straight 1080i50 playout, via LHe and Videohub.
Looking back at the support tickets, we never pinpointed the problem. But after we powered everything down completely (Mac, Deck, Videohub and Legaliser), reset everything (fcp & kona prefs, pram, permissions, etc) and replaced the SDI cables, our client hasn’t seen it again. Not very helpful in pinpointing what fixed it, but it did. That was a year ago. Prior to that it had been regular but intermittent over the summer.
Best,
Rupert—
