Digibeta deck upgrade to HD?
Is there an upgrade card for the Sony DVW-A500 to convert it to an HDCAM/HDCAM SR deck?

Nope, life isn’t that simple. Gotta get the HDCAM deck. But the HDCAM deck has an optional install that makes it work with Digibeta.

Dang, well thanks for the reality check. I ran out of digibeta tapes on my last project and tried to print out to a beta sp since I have buckets of those laying about, but I couldn’t get my A500 to record to Beta SP, only read. Is the A500 deck supposed to be able to record to SP stock, or does it need an upgrade card to do this (if there is one)?

Sorry, that only records to digibeta stock. Plays back beta, but only records Digi.
