I’m trying to capture some digibeta tapes using the Kona2, and a Sony DVW-A500 deck with Final Cut Pro HD. The captured video seems to play fine, except audio dropouts through out the video. Does anybody know the possible reasons for this, maybe wrong settings? It is not the tapes because I captured a bit again and had audio dropouts in different spots.

    Thanks for your help

Are you using an Easy Setup for capturing.

And are you using Embedded SDI audio or AES audio?

I capture DigiBeta from a J3/902 using embedded SDI audio with no issues here.

Is the deck set to Ref Input or Video? Should be Ref Input, and the K2 should also be drawing from the same black burst source. There must be a stable and concurrent sync signal for both the K2 and the DB deck. Sometimes, in unconventional setups, if you have the decks input set to SIF [SDI] it will interfere with the output.

    Steve is right.

If you do not have a BB gen then you should ONLY have the video IN patched to the K-box, the Kona reference then should be se to input video so that he KONA is locking to the deck’s input. Do not send an OP from the Kona to the deck’s in when capturing this way.

This could also be a tape problem. You should check to see if there is a channel condition light flashing on regular playback.

I am only running the SDI IN to the Serial V/A Output. I’m not real familiar with this deck, so I don’t know what to look for in a wrong setting.
