I’m cutting a multi format project, from EX to, 35mm to mini dv through to Digi beta.

My sequence is lead by the EX footage so it’s 1080 35 mbr 25 fps

I’m just wondering with the Digi Beta stuff, when it gets converted is there anything that I have to look out for/ask the production facility?

    Many thanks.

First, you need to figure out what settings you want. HD or SD. What is your final output going to be? That pretty much dictates the workflow. If it is going to be SD, then use an SD sequence and capture the digibeta as DV50 (DVCPRO 50), or ProRes NTSC. If it is going to be HD, then see if they have the hardware capture card that will upconvert the footage to HD…and choose either PILLARBOX where you see the entire image, but with black bars on the side, or if you want it to chop off the top and bottom of the screen and make it fill the 16:9 frame.

    Not really.
    he’s working in 25 fps.
So Prores NTSC is a bit silly, Prores @ 25 fps is more logical.
(And note that NTSC is not the correct term, since it’s not a composit signal, but anyways…)

In 25 fps it is common to have full height anamorphic 16:9.
So a conversion to HD should be full frame. Black bars are never a good idea if the source is 16:9

What he said. I didn’t notice the PAL settings.
