Diffusing Small Light
I’m going to apologize for this ahead of time since this is a very basic question. I have searched the forums and archives extensively but have not found a satisfactory answer.
I recently acquired the following kit as a result of buying a VX2100.

However, this light is very bright and harsh to the eyes. I’m looking for some way to diffuse this light so that when it is pointed at the subjects for my video it doesn’t blind them and/or reduce the squinting. Any help would be appreciated. -

You might use “C47s” (wood clothes pins) to attach a small piece of diffusion to that light if it has barndoors.
For example, StudioDepot sells an assortment of Lee diffusion material pre-cut in 12″x12″ sheets:
https://www.studiodepot.com/store/index.cgi?cmd=view_item&parent=1006-1045-2123&id=57492If possible, position the light so it’s not shining directly into your subject’s eyes. Placing the light at least a few feet to one side of the camera (if the subject is looking toward the camera) may help.
An on-camera light might be comfortable for a subject to look into if the light is relatively dim and diffused.
