  • Difficulty in Logging and Transferring in FCP7 from an SDHC chip

Posted by Larry Lancit on January 25, 2012 at 8:59 pm

I am trying to log and transfer six clips from a full 16GB SDHC chip into FCP7. I can see that the chip is full and can play all the clips in Quicktime with a plug-in player that Panasonic provides for Quicktime. When I bring up the chip in the Log and Transfer window, it only shows me the first 3 clips. The last 3 clips (which has all the most important material–of course!) does not appear in the L&T window, so I can’t transcode it for editing. Is there a workaround, or a reason why the L&T window will not recognize those three clips?

You are skipping the most important step: BACK UP THAT CARD!

First thing you do…lock the card and back it up to a hard drive. That is priority #1. THEN log and transfer.

Only if you are in a super rush should you log and transfer first…THEN back up. Are you in a super rush?

    What version of FCP, BTW?

Good point of course! Yes I backed it up immediately…I always do. I tried to L&T from the hard drive, then from the original card. Problem is the same. I am using FCP7. I have never had this happen before in the two years I have been using this recording format.

Can Compressor see all the clips on the hard drive backup?
