difficult Keying
I have some footage that I have been working on for a freind. I am using the college computer as they have all the software I need to edit the film. I am using After Effects 6.5 and here is my problem.
I have used keylight to key out most of the green. (BTW I know that the green background is not the perfect green screen cloth to use it was not my choice) I followed the tutorial on making super tight junk mattes by Aharon Rabinowitz that works well. However I am getting artifacts that appear on the actress as bright spots that were not there before keyeing. Also the actor has feathers that wind up getting lost after keying. If you look really close you can see some sort of halo around the keyed image. Its not green either so it doesn’t get keyed. I know that perhaps some of the green on the costume that gets removed will cause the actor to have an off color around the edges which can be blured or dealt with. My main issue is with the halo around the actress. The spots between her arms and body also show up as blueish areas.
If anyone has any good ways to correct this I am open to suggestion and it would speed up my workflow.
I am working on a fan film for Star Wars. I will be happy to send footage to anyone that is willing to help me get movingforward. Here are links to the images:
