  • Different pixel dimension when/after rendering

    Hi Folks,

I’ve got an animated christmas card in 1280×589. When exporting, either with AE directly or via media encoder,
i am getting 588 in height instaed of my comp size 589. Media Encoder even has 588px in the export settings, which I am not allowed to edit, even tho my comp size is different. Any ideas?

    Regards
    Ben

The format you’re trying to export to requires the width and height to be divisible by two so it’s automatically rounded. The best practice would be to work in a resolution that doesn’t have odd values.

    Thank you for the answer.

Customer wants it embedded on their website, so the dimensions are fixed.
Is there any format supporting these kind of values?

There is encoded format and display format. Display can be anything, render cannot.
Render to the closest value and be done with it.

Compression takes place in blocks of pixels, like 8 or 16 or 64. Numbers divisible by 8 basically. You can’t just dream up odd-number random dimensions and make it work, sorry, it breaks the encoder.
