Different brightness in preview & render when compared with original.
I have some .vob files that i ripped from a DVD myself a while back, but I’ve noticed that for some reason Vegas is showing a different overall colour to what i see in the preview window, as well as rendering.
Here’s a comparison of how a file opened in Vegas compares to a file opened in VLC with the default 8 bit pixel format:
I can’t say I’ve noticed this before, seems like it only happens with some files.
I changed the pixel format to 32 bit floating point (full range), as well as view transform off and got this:
I think it’s pretty accurate like that, it’s hard to tell if it’s 100% accurate as i can only guess by looking at it.
But why does this happen in the first place? I thought Vegas would show the proper colours/brightness to begin with. I’ve also read around and people usually don’t recommend to set anything but 8 bit in the project properties.
Why doesn’t Vegas import the video to it’s actual colours? At least it seems like it doesn’t.
