Ok, so about a few months ago, I shot some footage for my short on the panasonic DVX100b, 24pa. I shot the footage using squeeze mode-4×3.

A few months later, i decided to re-shoot the opening scene for the short. By this time, I had already sold my camera. So i decided to borrow my friend’s DVX100b. Little did i know that he had his settings set to 16×9 letterbox.

So when I got home and uploaded the footage, the footage was squeezed and matted. I went to Sequence>Settings, and I unchecked the 16×9 anamorphic box, and it unsqueezed my new footage, but now my “old footage” is stretched. Please Help, how can I get both sequences to be 16×9 Anamorphic.

You will have to zoom in and use the distort/aspect ratio in the Motion tab of that footage to match.

This would be better to be done in Compressor and use Frame Control, resize set to best. This will take a lot longer to transcode but the results should be better. This is a heavy enlargement of the footage. If you are not in prefect focus and excellent exposure you are going to be in trouble. Shoot 4:3 Letterbox is the worst setting you can have. IMO.

Thank you for responding, but I wanted to correct myself.

The “old footage” was shot not shot in Squeeze mode. I shot it in stretch mode. So my old footage should be fine.

    Hope that makes a difference.

I’m talking about fitting the letterboxed stuff to match your 16:9.

It has been a long time since I used the DVX the mode you used is called Squeeze in the menu (if my memory is correct) this mode gives you 16:9 anamorphic footage. If that is what you want to edit as, you need to apply my above instruction to the letterboxed footage. If this is not what you want I don’t understand what you are trying to do.

Oh ok, now I get you. I’ll follow your instructions, see where it takes me. Thanks
