  • Difference between current state to object and making something editable?

I’m a little confused on the difference between these two. A lot of tutorials will say “either do current state to object or make the object editable” for the purposes of optimizing for export. But I assume there must be a difference. Can anyone break that down for me?

They are effectively the same thing,

Making an “object editable” is normally used when referring to primitive objects, and you’ll more likely hear “current state to object” when using mograph tools and cloners.

Ultimately it shouldn’t make a difference which one you use 🙂

Also, making the object editable is more destructive. Current State to Object makes a copy of your thing as a polygonal object. This is preferred, so you can go back to whatever rig it is you’re making if you need to change something instead of losing it entirely.

That is, you can Current State to Object a crazy hierarchy of deformers, etc.
