Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Difference between Close and Close Project in After Effect’s File menu

    ‘Close’ will just close the comp window in the timeline viewer. ‘Close Project’ actually closes the file you’re working on and gives you a blank slate.

    To add on what Zach ahs said:

    “Close” option will close the composition and has a shortcut key ” Cntl + W”. If you press ” Cntrl + Alt + W “, All the composition from the Timeline will be closed.

    I use this shortcut when too many comps and pre-comps are opened in Timeline just to clean up and then open only the required one.
