  • Did Aliens take over my timeline?! (file names contain glyphs)

Posted by Aaron Rosapepe on July 20, 2019 at 2:52 pm

After a recent crash and re-start in Avid Media Composer 2019, all of my file names on my edited sequences have been changed to include what appear to be random glyphs (see attached screen shot). File names in the bins have not been affected and the sequences play back fine but this does not seem like a good thing as I move forward with my edit.

Is this a known issue and is there a solve?

Try fresh user settings, and/or go into the interface settings and fiddle around with the fonts.
(It looks more to an OS font problem than an Avid problem, but that’s just a hunch.)

Looks like my user profile had indeed become corrupted. Made a new profile and problem solved. Thank you!

Too bad, a real close encounter would have been more fun.

I had the same thing happen…created a new user and everything was fine…until the next day. Did the process again, and this time it has been stable for a few weeks.

Something buggy somewhere, and I have tried any custom workspacesettings since the second rebuild.
