I have a SONY DSR-20 DVCAM deck that has always been recognized by FCP.
Suddenly it stopped getting recognized and now under Audio/Video/Settings “Playback Output” is now suddenly set to “NONE” and when I pull it down there is no Firewire NTSE Basic anymore. Under “Device Control Presets” Firewire NTSE Basic is checked, but it’s says NONE back in “Playback Output”.

Where did it go and how do I get it back?

Thanks so much for all the great help!

The computer can’t find the DSR.

First, check if the DSR is on remote; if yes then change the Firewire cable. If that doesn’t help connect another Firewire device to see if the problem is with the DSR or with the Mac.

Thanks! I did hook up my SONY Camera and device control works fine. Does that mean my DSR 20 is having problems.

The weird thing is, in the audio video settings box it says “Missing Apple Firewire”

Thanks so much for all the great help!

Yes there is something with your DSR-20, although it doesn’t mean it’s broke – probably just a wrong setting. I don’t know the 20 but look for settings having to do with switching from LAN or RS-422 remote to Firewire/IEEE1394, that kind of stuff.
