May 10, 2012 at 8:05 pmcan you please tell me, if Apple MBP 15.4 , 2011 model, with ATI and 256 VRAM supports ray trace 3d renderer ?
I have this model, imac 27 late 2099 , i5 8gb ram, with ATI card 512 MB VRAm and neither does…. -

May 10, 2012 at 8:07 pmAs the article says, the GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer requires a specific CUDA card. No ATI/AMD GPU uses CUDA. Only the Nvidia GPUs listed in the system requirements (linked to from the article) provide this CUDA feature.

May 10, 2012 at 9:07 pmthats not entirely true!
I install the try version of CS6 AE in another MBP 2011 17″ with ATI and 1 GB VRAM and it worked .
So there is something else wrong… -

If you don’t have one of the suitable NVIDIA GPUs, AE will render the ray tracer on the CPU only.
If you do have a suitable NVIDIA GPU, AE can use it to accelerate ray traced rendering. It is significantly faster with the GPU than it is on the CPU only.
In other words, the graphics card isn’t required for the ray tracer.

May 21, 2012 at 11:11 pmHello,
I have a GTX 570 running on my mac pro and I am trying to get AE CS6 3d ray rendering working with GPU acceleration but when I try to render at the end, it s just a black screen. Though when I use fast draft, it actually works until a point where I want the final look.
What should I do?
I did put the card into the supported cards list in AE CS6.
I am using GT 120 and GTX 570.Thank you

May 31, 2012 at 6:35 pmCurious, are you using a card from macvidcards? Or a non-flashed card?
